2Hamath also borders there with Tyre and Sidon, for she has become very wise.3Tyre built a siege against her and heaped up silver like dust and gold like mud in the streets.4Behold, the Lord will dispossess her and strike her fortress in the sea, and she will be consumed by fire.5Ashkelon will see and fear; Gaza will tremble greatly; and Ekron, because her hope has been put to shame. A king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited.6A foreigner will dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines.7I will remove his blood from his lips and his abominations from between his teeth. He also will remain for our God and will be like a clan chief in Judah, and Ekron will be like the Jebusite.8I will encamp at my house as a guard against anyone passing through or returning, and no oppressor will pass over them again, for now I have seen it with my own eyes.
