2 Chronicles 34:14-33
14When they brought out the silver that had been brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found the scroll of the instruction of the LORD by the hand of Moses.15Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the secretary, "I found the scroll of the instruction in the house of the LORD." Then Hilkiah gave the scroll to Shaphan.16Shaphan brought the scroll to the king and reported back to the king, saying, "Everything that was given into the hand of your servants, they are doing."17They poured out the silver that was found in the house of the LORD and gave it upon the hand of the overseers and upon the hand of the workmen.18Shaphan the secretary reported to the king, saying, "Hilkiah the priest gave me a scroll." And Shaphan read it before the king.19When the king heard the words of the instruction, he tore his garments.20The king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam son of Shaphan, Abdon son of Micah, Shaphan the secretary, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying,21Go, seek the LORD on my behalf and on behalf of the remnant in Israel and in Judah concerning the words of the scroll that was found, for great is the rage of the LORD that has been poured out on us because our fathers did not keep the word of the LORD by doing all that is written on this scroll.22So Hilkiah and those whom the king had sent went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum son of Tokhath son of Hasrah, keeper of the garments, who was dwelling in Jerusalem in the Second Quarter; and they spoke to her accordingly.23She said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Tell the man who sent you to me,24Thus says the LORD: Behold, I am bringing distress upon this place and upon its inhabitants—all the oaths written on the scroll that was read before the king of Judah.25Because they forsook me and made offerings to other gods in order to provoke me with all the works of their hands, my rage will be poured out on this place and will not be quenched.26And to the king of Judah who sent you to seek the LORD, you shall say this: "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: The words that you have heard,27Because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before God when you heard his words about this place and its inhabitants, and you humbled yourself before me, tore your garments, and wept before me, I also have heard, declares the LORD.28Behold, I am gathering you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your graves in peace; your eyes shall not see all the distress that I am bringing upon this place and its inhabitants. They brought back word to the king.29Then the king sent and gathered all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.30The king went up to the house of the LORD with all the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests, the Levites, and all the people, both great and small; and he read in their hearing all the words of the scroll of the covenant found in the house of the LORD.31The king stood by his post and made a covenant before the LORD to walk after the LORD and to keep his commandments, his testimonies, and his statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, performing the words of the covenant written on this scroll.32He made everyone present in Jerusalem and Benjamin stand, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem acted according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.33Josiah removed all the abominations from all the lands of the sons of Israel and required everyone found in Israel to serve the LORD their God throughout his days; they did not turn aside from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
