1The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch son of Neriah when he wrote these words in a book at Jeremiah's dictation in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, saying:2This is what the LORD God of Israel said to you, Baruch.3You said, "Woe to me! For the LORD has added sorrow to my pains. I am weary with my groaning, and I have not found rest."4This is what you shall say to him: "This is what the LORD says: Behold, what I have built I am tearing down, and what I have planted I am uprooting—even this whole land."5And you, do not seek great things for yourself. For look, I am bringing calamity on all flesh, says the LORD, and I will give you your life as spoil in all the places where you go.
