Psalm 5:1-12

Chapter 5
For the chief musician, for the flutes, a psalm of David. 1 To the choirmaster: to the Amorites. A psalm of David. Give ear, O LORD, to my words; understand my groaning. 2 Hear the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray. 3 In the morning you, LORD, will hear my voice in prayer, my King and my God, for to you I direct my prayer and I will watch. 4 For you are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil will not sojourn with you. 5 Boasters will not stand before your eyes; you hate all workers of evil. 6 You will destroy those who speak falsehood, men of blood and deceit; the LORD abhors them. 7 But I, by the abundance of your lovingkindness, will enter your house; in your fear I will bow down toward the temple of your holiness. 8 LORD, lead me in your righteousness because of my adversaries; make your way straight before your face. 9 For there is no uprightness in their mouth; their inward part is ruinous, their throat is an open grave; they make their tongue smooth. 10 Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own counsels. In the multitude of their transgressions, thrust them out, for they have rebelled against you. 11 But may all who take refuge in you rejoice forever; may they shout for joy, and may you shelter them, and may those who love your name exult in you. 12 For you will bless the righteous, LORD; with favor you will surround us like a shield.
