The Departure of God's Glory from the Temple

10
Chapter 10
1 And I saw, and behold, toward the expanse that was over the head of the cherubim, like a sapphire stone, like the appearance of a cosmic likeness of a throne was seen over them. 2 And he said to the man clothed in linens, "Enter between the whirling wheels, under the cherub, and fill your palms with coals of divine fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the City of refuge." And he entered in my sight. 3 And the cherubim were standing on the right side of the house when the man went in and the cloud filled the inner court. 4 And the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the courtyard was filled with the radiance of the glory of the LORD. 5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the sound of El Shaddai when he was speaking. 6 And it was when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, "Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim," and he went in and stood beside the wheel. 7 And the cherub sent out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and he lifted it up and gave it to the hollow of the garment of the byssus, and he took it and went out. 8 He saw for the cherubim a form of a man's hand under their wings. 9 And I looked, and there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and one wheel beside one cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like the eye of a Tarshish stone. 10 And their appearance was one likeness for the four of them, as a wheel is within a wheel. 11 When they went, they went on their four sides; they did not turn as they went. For the place that the head turned toward, they went; they did not turn as they went. 12 And all their flesh, their heights, their hands, their wings, and the wheels are full of eyes all around to their four wheels. 13 To the ophanim it is called the Gilgal in his ears. 14 And each had four faces: the face of the one was the face of the cherub, and the face of the second was the face of man, and the third the face of lion, and the fourth the face of eagle. 15 And the cherubim lifted up—it is the living being that I saw by the river—already. 16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels would go beside them. And when the cherubim lifted their wings upward above the earth, the wheels did not turn—even from beside them. 17 When they stand, they stand, and when they are raised, they are raised with them, for the Spirit of Life is in them. 18 And the glory of the LORD went out from above the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim. 19 And the cherubim lifted their wings and rose from the earth before my eyes as they went out, and the wheels alongside them. And it stood at the entrance of the gate of the house of the LORD, the eastern one, and the glory of the God of Israel was over them from above. 20 It is the living creatures that I saw under the God of Israel at the River Chebar, and I knew that they were cherubim. 21 Four, four faces to one and four wings to one and likeness of the hands of Adam under their wings. 22 And the likeness of their faces—these are the faces that I saw by the River Chebar—their vision/appearance and them: man to beyond his face they will go.
