1I saw, and behold, toward the expanse that was above the heads of the cherubim something like a sapphire stone, like the appearance of the likeness of a throne that appeared above them.2He spoke to the man clothed in linen and said, "Go in between the wheel under the cherub and fill your palms with coals of fire from between the cherubim and scatter them over the city." He came before my eyes.3The cherubim were standing on the right side of the house when the man entered, and the cloud filled the inner court.4The glory of the LORD rose from above the cherub to the threshold of the house; the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD.5The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard as far as the outer court, like the voice of the Almighty when he spoke.6When he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, "Take fire from between the wheel and from between the cherubim," the man came and stood beside the wheel.7The cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim toward the fire that was between the cherubim, lifted some, and placed it in the palms of the man clothed in linen; the man took it and went out.8The form of a human hand appeared beneath the wings of the cherubim.9I looked, and there were four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside each cherub, and the appearance of the wheels was like the eye of a jasper stone.10Their appearance was the same for all four, like a wheel within a wheel.11When they moved, they went toward any of their four sides without turning as they went, because wherever the head faced, they followed without turning as they went.12Their entire bodies, their backs, their hands, their wings, and their wheels were full of eyes all around.13As for the wheels, they were called the wheel in my hearing.14Each had four faces: the first face was that of the cherub, the second face that of a man, the third face that of a lion, and the fourth face that of an eagle.15The cherubim rose; this was the living creature I had seen by the river Chebar.16When the cherubim moved, the wheels moved beside them; when the cherubim lifted their wings to rise from the land, the wheels did not turn from beside them.17When they stood still, the wheels stood still; when they rose, the wheels rose with them, because the spirit of the living creature was in them.18The glory of the LORD departed from above the threshold of the house and stood over the cherubim.19The cherubim lifted their wings and rose from the land before my eyes as they went out, with the wheels beside them; they stood at the entrance of the eastern gate of the house of the LORD, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them.20This was the living creature I had seen beneath the God of Israel at the river Chebar, and I realized that they were cherubim.21Each had four faces and four wings, with the likeness of human hands under their wings.22Their faces were the same faces I had seen by the river Chebar; each went straight ahead.
