Promises of Restoration and a Joyful Jerusalem

Zechariah 8:1-23
1And the word of the LORD of Hosts came, saying, 2Thus says the LORD of Hosts: I have been jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and with great rage I have been jealous for her. 3Thus says the LORD: I have returned to Zion and I will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem, and Jerusalem shall be called the city of truth, and the mountain of the LORD of Hosts the mountain of holiness. 4Thus says the LORD of Hosts: Old men and old women will still dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and each man will have his staff in his hand because of the abundance of days. 5And the streets of the city will be filled with youths and maidens laughing in her streets. 6Thus says the LORD of Hosts: For it will be wonderful in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days; it will also be wonderful in my eyes, declares the LORD of Hosts. 7Thus says the LORD of Hosts: Behold, I am saving my people from the land of the east and from the land of the entrance of the sun. 8And I will bring them, and they will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; they will be my people and I will be their God in truth and in righteousness. 9Thus says the LORD of Hosts: Let the hands of those who hear these words in these days from the mouth of the prophets be strong—the words spoken on the day when the house of the LORD of Hosts, the temple, was founded to be built. 10For before those days the wages of the man had not come to be, and the wages of the animal were not; and for the one going out and for the one coming in there was no peace from the enemy, and I will send every man against his neighbor. 11And now it is not as in the former days for the remnant of this people, declares the LORD of Hosts. 12For the seed of peace: the vine will give its fruit, the land will give its crops, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things. 13And it will be that just as you were a curse among the nations—house of Judah and house of Israel—so I will save you and you will be a blessing. Do not fear; let your hands be strong. 14For thus says the LORD of Hosts: Just as I planned to bring harm upon you when your fathers provoked me to anger, says the LORD of Hosts, and I did not relent, 15so I have returned and planned in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear. 16These are the things you shall do: speak truth with one another; render true and peaceful judgments in your gates. 17And do not plot in your hearts the harm of one another, and do not love a false oath, for all these things I hate, declares the LORD. 18And the word of the LORD of Hosts came to me, saying, 19Thus says the LORD of Hosts: The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth month, the fast of the seventh month, and the fast of the tenth month shall become for the house of Judah occasions for rejoicing and gladness and for good appointed festivals; therefore love truth and peace. 20Thus says the LORD of Hosts: Peoples will still come, and the inhabitants of many cities, 21and the inhabitants of one city will go to another, saying, "Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the LORD and to seek the LORD of Hosts; I myself will go also." 22Many peoples and mighty nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favor of the LORD. 23Thus says the LORD of Hosts: In those days ten men from all the languages of the nations will take hold and will grasp the wing of a Jew, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."
