The Sign of Ezekiel's Wife's Death: Judgment and Changed Lament

Ezekiel 24:15-27
15And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 16Son of man, look! I am taking from you the desire of your eyes by means of a plague, and you shall not mourn, and you shall not weep, and your tears shall not come. 17Groan; be silent; you shall not make mourning for the dead; bind your headdress upon yourself, and place your sandals on your feet, and do not cover your mustache, and do not eat the food of men. 18So I spoke to the people in the morning, and my wife died in the evening, and I acted in the morning just as I had been commanded. 19Then the people said to me, Will you not tell us what these things mean for us, since you are doing them? 20And I said to them, The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 21Say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD: Look! I am profaning my sanctuary, the pride of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and the compassion of your soul; and your sons and your daughters whom you forsook shall fall by the sword. 22And you shall do just as I did: you shall not cover your mustache, and you shall not eat the food of men. 23Your headdress shall remain upon your heads and your sandals upon your feet; you shall not mourn and you shall not weep, but you shall rot away in your iniquities and groan, each man toward his brother. 24And Ezekiel shall become a wonder to you; according to everything that he did, you shall do; when it comes, you shall know that I am the Lord GOD. 25And you, son of man, will it not be on the day when I take from them their security, the rejoicing of their beauty, the desire of their eyes, and the burden of their soul—their sons and their daughters? 26On that day the survivor will come to you to make a report heard by the ears. 27On that day your mouth shall be opened to the survivor, and you shall speak and shall no longer be dumb, and you shall become a wonder to them, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
