11The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,12When you lift the head of the sons of Israel to list them, each man shall give a ransom for his soul to the LORD when they are listed, so that no plague comes upon them when they are listed.13This is what everyone who is listed shall give: half a shekel according to the sanctuary shekel (twenty gerahs to the shekel); half a shekel is the contribution to the LORD.14Everyone from twenty years old and upward who is listed shall give the contribution to the LORD.15The rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half the shekel when giving the contribution to the LORD to atone for your souls.16You shall take the atonement silver from the sons of Israel and give it for the service of the tent of meeting; it shall be for the sons of Israel as a memorial before the LORD to atone for your souls.
