11In the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, the cloud ascended from above the tabernacle of the testimony.12The sons of Israel set out on their journeys from the wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud settled in the wilderness of Paran.13They set out for the first time at the command of the LORD by the hand of Moses.14The standard of the camp of the sons of Judah set out first according to their armies, and Nahshon son of Amminadab was over his army.15And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Issachar was Nethanel son of Zuar.16And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun was Eliab son of Helon.17The tabernacle was taken down, and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari set out, carrying the tabernacle.18The standard of the camp of Reuben set out according to their armies, and Elizur son of Shedeur was over his army.19And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Simeon was Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai.20And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Gad was Eliasaph son of Deuel.21The Kohathites set out, carrying the sanctuary, and they erected the tabernacle until their arrival.22The standard of the camp of the sons of Ephraim set out according to their armies, and Elishama son of Ammihud was over his army.23And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh was Gamaliel son of Pedahzur.24And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin was Abidan son of Gideoni.25The standard of the camp of the sons of Dan set out as the rear guard for all the camps according to their armies, and Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai was over his army.26And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Asher was Pagiel son of Ochran.27And over the army of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali was Ahira son of Enan.28These were the journeys of the sons of Israel according to their armies, and they set out.29Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel the Midianite, the relative of Moses, "We are setting out to the place of which the LORD said, 'I will give it to you.' Come with us, and we will treat you well, for the LORD has spoken good concerning Israel."30He said to him, "I will not go, but I will go to my own land and to my relatives."31He said, "Please do not leave us, for you know how we camp in the wilderness, and you will be for us as eyes."32And it shall be, if you go with us, that the good that the LORD does with us, we will do the same good for you.33They set out from the mountain of the LORD a three-day journey, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them a three-day journey to seek out a resting place for them.34The cloud of the LORD was over them by day whenever they set out from the camp.35Whenever the ark set out, Moses said, "Arise, O LORD, and let your enemies be scattered; let those who hate you flee before you."36And when it came to rest, he said, "Return, O LORD, to the myriads of thousands of Israel."
