Those Who Came to David at Hebron (Judah’s Support)
1 Chronicles 12:1-22
1And these are the ones who came to David at Ziklag, still restrained from before Saul son of Kish; and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the battle.2They were handlers of the bow, able to go right and to go left with stones and with arrows in the bow, from the brothers of Saul from Benjamin.3The head was Ahiezer, and Joash son of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel and Pelet son of Azmaveth, and Beracah and Jehu the Anathothite.4And Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty and upon the thirty. And Jeremiah and Jahaziel and Johanan and Jozabad the Gederathite.5Eluzai and Jerimoth and Bealiah and Shemariah and Shephatiah the Haruphite.6Elkanah and Isshiah and Azarel and Joezer and Jashobeam the Korahite.7And Joelah and Zebadiah son of Jeroham from the Gedor.8And from the Gadites there separated themselves to David at the stronghold in the wilderness, the mighty men of valor, men of the army for battle, arrangers of shield and spear; and their faces were like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as gazelles upon the mountains.9Ezer the head, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third.10Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth.11Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh.12Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth.13Jeremiah the tenth, Machbannai the eleventh.14These from the sons of Gad, heads of the army, one to a hundred, the small and the great to a thousand.15These are they who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it had filled all its banks, and they made all the valleys flee, both to the east and to the west.16And they came from the sons of Benjamin and Judah until the stronghold to David.17And David came out to meet them and answered and said to them, "If you have come to me in peace to help me, my heart shall be united with you; but if to betray me to my enemies, though there is no violence in my hands, may the God of our fathers see and rebuke."18And the spirit clothed Amasai, head of the thirty, the thirty: To you, David, and with you, son of Jesse, peace, peace to you, and peace to your helper, for your God helped you. And David received them and gave them among the heads of the band.19And from Manasseh they fell upon David when he came with the Philistine upon Saul to battle, and they did not help them, for in counsel the lords of the Philistine sent him away, saying, With our heads he will fall to his lord Saul.20When he walked to Ziklag, they fell upon him from Manasseh: Adnah and Jozabad and Jediael and Michael and Jozabad and Elihu and Zillethai, heads of the thousands which belonged to Manasseh.21And they helped David against the band, for they were all mighty men of valor, and they became commanders in the army.22For day by day they came to David to help him, until there was a great camp like the camp of God.
