1And Pashhur son of Immer the priest—he was the overseer leader in the house of the LORD—heard Jeremiah the prophet speaking these words.2And he struck Pashhur Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks which were in the upper Benjamin Gate which was in the house of the LORD.3And it was on the morrow, and Pashhur brought Jeremiah out from the stocks, and said to him, "Jeremiah, not Pashhur has the LORD called your name, but Magor-Missabib."4For thus says the LORD: Behold, I will give you as a terror to you and to all your lovers, and they will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. And all Judah I give into the hand of the king of Babel, and they will exile them to Babel, and they will strike them by the sword.5And I will give all the wealth of this city and all its toil and all its preciousness and all the treasuries of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies, and they will plunder them and take them and bring them to Babylon.6And you, Pashhur, and all the inhabitants of your house will go into captivity, and to Babylon you will come, and there you will die and there you will be buried—you and all your lovers whom you prophesied to them in falsehood.
