Persecution by Pashhur the Priest

Jeremiah 20:1-6
1Pashhur son of Immer the priest heard Jeremiah, and he was the overseer and leader in the house of the LORD. 2Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and placed him in the stocks in the upper Benjamin Gate in the house of the LORD. 3The next day Pashhur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks, and Jeremiah said to him, The LORD does not call your name Pashhur, but rather terror from around. 4For thus says the LORD: Look, I am making you a terror to yourself and to all your lovers; they will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon; he will take them into exile to Babylon and strike them with the sword. 5I will give all the wealth of this city and all its produce and all its precious things and all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies; they will plunder them, take them, and bring them to Babylon. 6And you, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house will go into captivity; you will come to Babylon, and there you will die and there you will be buried, you and all your lovers who have prophesied to them in deception.
