1Then he came to Derbe and to Lystra. And look, there was a disciple there whose name was Timothy, the son of a faithful Jewish woman, but whose father was a Greek.2He was well spoken of by the brothers in Lystra and Iconium.3Paul wanted this man to go out with him, and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.4As they passed through the cities, they handed on to them the decrees that had been decided by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem, for them to keep.5So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith and increased in number every day.
