Chapter 3
1 Solomon began to build the house of the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where he had appeared to David his father, which he prepared in the place of David, in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 2 He began to build on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his kingdom. 3 These are the foundations that Solomon laid to build the house of God: the length was sixty cubits by the former measure, and the width twenty cubits. 4 The porch that was in front of the house, across its width, was twenty cubits long, and the height was one hundred and twenty cubits. He overlaid it inside with pure gold. 5 He overlaid the great house with fir wood, overlaid it with fine gold, and carved palms and chains on it. 6 He overlaid the house with precious stone for beauty, and the gold was gold of Parvaim. 7 He overlaid the house, the thresholds, its walls, and its doors with gold, and carved cherubim on the walls. 8 He made the holy of holies; its length along the width of the house was twenty cubits, and its width was twenty cubits. And he overlaid it with fine gold, six hundred shekels. 9 The weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold, and he covered the upper chambers with gold. 10 He made two cherubim of cast workmanship in the Holy of Holies of the house, and they overlaid them with covenant-sign gold. 11 The wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long. The wing of one was five cubits long, reaching to the wall of the house, and its other wing was five cubits long, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. 12 One wing of the cherub was five cubits long and touched the wall of the house, while the other wing, also five cubits long, touched the wing of the other cherub. 13 The wings of these cherubim spread out twenty cubits, and they stood on their feet facing the house. 14 He made the veil of blue and purple and crimson and fine linen, and he had cherubim worked into it. 15 He made two pillars in front of the house, thirty-five cubits long, and the capital on the top of each was five cubits. 16 He made chains in the inner sanctuary and put them on the tops of the pillars, and he made a hundred pomegranates and put them on the chains. 17 He set up the pillars in front of the temple, one on the right and one on the left, and he called the name of the right one Jachin and the name of the left one Boaz.
