1In the twenty-seventh year of Jeroboam king of Israel, Azariah son of Amaziah king of Judah became king.2He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoliah from Jerusalem.3He did what was upright in the eyes of the LORD, just as Amaziah his father had done.4However, the high places were not removed; the people were still sacrificing and burning offerings at the high places.5The LORD afflicted the king, and he was leprous until the day of his death. He lived in a separate house, while Jotham the king's son governed the household and judged the people of the land.6Now the rest of the acts of Azariah and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?7Azariah lay down with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David. Jotham his son reigned in his place.
