2And David commanded to gather the sojourners who were in the land of Israel, and he set stonecutters to cut dressed stone for building the house of God.3And iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates and for the clamps David prepared, and bronze in abundance without weight.4And cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the Tyrians brought cedar trees in abundance to David.5And David said, "Solomon my son is a youth and tender, and the house to build for the LORD is to magnify above to a name and to beauty for all the lands; I will prepare, please, for him." And David prepared in abundance before his death.6And he called Solomon his son and commanded him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel.7And David said to Solomon his son, My son, it was with my heart to build a house for the name of the LORD my God.8And the word of the LORD came upon me, saying, Blood in abundance you have poured and great battles you have made; you shall not build a house for my name, for much blood you have poured on the land before me.9Behold, a son is to be born to you; he shall be a man of rest, and I will give rest to him from all his enemies from around, for Solomon shall be his name and peace and quietness I will give upon Israel in his days.10He shall build a house for my name, and he shall be to me for a son and I to him for a father, and I will establish the throne of his royalty upon Israel until forever.11Now my son, may the LORD be with you and prosper you, and you shall build the house of the LORD your God just as he spoke concerning you.12Surely the LORD will give you understanding and insight and will command you concerning Israel, to keep the instruction of the LORD your God.13Then you will prosper if you keep to do the statutes and the justices which the LORD commanded Moses upon Israel; be strong and strengthen; do not fear and do not be dismayed.14And behold, in my affliction I prepared for the house of the LORD gold, a hundred thousand talents, and silver, a thousand thousand talents, and for the bronze and for the iron without weight, for it was in abundance, and trees and stones I prepared, and upon them you shall add.15And with you in abundance are workers, hewers and artificers of stone and wood, and all who are wise in every kind of work.16For the gold, for the silver, and for the bronze, and for the iron without number, arise and do, and may the LORD be with you.17And David commanded all the rulers of Israel to help Solomon his son.18Is not the LORD your God with you? And has he not given you rest on every side? For he gave the inhabitants of the land into my hand, and the land was subdued before the LORD and before his people.19Now give your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God, and arise and build the sanctuary of the LORD God to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the articles of holiness of God to the house that is to be built for the name of the LORD.
