1 Chronicles 9:2-34
2The first inhabitants who dwelt in their possession in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the temple servants.3In Jerusalem dwelt some of the sons of Judah, some of the sons of Benjamin, some of the sons of Ephraim, and some of Manasseh.4Uthai son of Ammihud son of Omri son of Imri, son of Benjamin, from Bani, from the sons of Perez son of Judah.5From the Shilonite came Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.6From the sons of Zerah came Jeuel and his brothers, six hundred and ninety.7From the sons of Benjamin came Sallu son of Meshullam son of Hodaviah son of Hassenuah.8Ibneiah son of Jeroham, Elah son of Uzzi son of Michri, and Meshullam son of Shephatiah son of Reuel son of Ibnijah.9Their brothers according to their generations numbered nine hundred and fifty-six; all these men were heads of fathers' houses.10From the priests came Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, and Jachin.11Azariah son of Hilkiah son of Meshullam son of Zadok son of Meraioth son of Ahitub was leader of the house of God.12Adaiah son of Jeroham son of Pashhur son of Malchijah, and Maasai son of Adiel son of Jahzerah son of Meshullam son of Meshillemith son of Immer.13Their brothers were heads of their fathers' houses, a thousand seven hundred and sixty mighty men of strength for the work of the service of the house of God.14From the Levites came Shemaiah son of Hasshub son of Azrikam son of Hashabiah from the sons of Merari.15Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah son of Mica son of Zichri son of Asaph.16Obadiah son of Shemaiah son of Galal son of Jeduthun, Berechiah son of Asa son of Elkanah who dwelt in the villages of the Netophathite.17The gatekeepers were Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brother Shallum the head.18Until this point, at the gate of the king on the east, they were the gatekeepers for the camps of the sons of Levi.19Shallum son of Kore son of Ebiasaph son of Korah and his brothers belonged to the house of his father the Korahites; they were over the work of the service, keeping the threshold of the tent, and their fathers were over the camp of the LORD, keeping the entrance.20Phinehas son of Eleazar was leader over them before the LORD with him.21Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper at the entrance to the tent of meeting.22All of them were chosen for gatekeepers at the thresholds, two hundred and twelve; they dwelt in their villages; their enrollment was established by David and Samuel the seer because of their faithfulness.23They and their sons were over the gates of the house of the LORD, of the house of the tent, for the charges.24The gatekeepers were to be at the four winds: east, west, north, and Negeb.25Their brothers in their villages were to come for seven days from time to time with these.26Because of their faithfulness these four mighty men, the gatekeepers, were Levites; they were over the chambers and over the treasures of the house of God.27They lodged around the house of God because the charge was upon them; they were over the opening morning by morning.28Some of them were over the articles of the service, for they brought them in by number and brought them out by number.29Some of them were appointed over the articles and over all the articles of the holiness and over the fine flour and the wine and the oil and the frankincense and the spices.30Some of the sons of the priests prepared the ointment for the spices.31Mattithiah from the Levites, the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, was in charge of the work of the flatbreads because of his faithfulness.32Some of the sons of the Kohathites, from among their brothers, were in charge of the rows of bread to prepare them Sabbath after Sabbath.33These were the singers, heads of fathers among the Levites in the chambers, set apart because day and night the work was upon them.34These were the heads of the fathers among the Levites according to their generations; these heads dwelt in Jerusalem.
