1And in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, to fulfill the word of the LORD from the mouth of Jeremiah, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he caused a voice to pass throughout all his kingdom and also in writing, saying:2Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build a house for him in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.3Whoever among you from all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah, and let him build the house of the LORD, the God of Israel; he is the God who is in Jerusalem.4And every survivor, in all the places where he sojourns, let the men of his place assist him with silver and with gold and with goods and with livestock, together with the freewill offering for the house of the God who is in Jerusalem.5And the heads of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin and the priests and the Levites arose, all whose spirit the God had stirred to go up to build the house of the LORD that is in Jerusalem.6And all around them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with property, with animals, and with precious things, besides all that was freely offered.7King Cyrus also brought out the vessels of the house of the LORD that Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem and had placed in the house of his God.8Cyrus king of Persia had them brought out by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and they were counted out to Sheshbazzar the prince of Judah.9And these were their number: thirty gold basins, one thousand silver basins, twenty-nine knives.10Thirty gold bowls, four hundred ten second silver bowls, and one thousand other vessels.11All the vessels of the gold and of the silver were five thousand four hundred; all these Sheshbazzar brought up with the bringing up of the captivity from Babylon to Jerusalem.
