Deuteronomy

Witnesses and Penalties

Chapter 19
15 No one shall stand as a witness against a man for any iniquity or for any sin, for any sin that he sins; by the mouth of two witnesses or by the mouth of three witnesses the matter shall stand. 16 For a malicious witness rises up against a man to testify against him wrongdoing. 17 And the two men who have the dispute shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges who will be in those days. 18 And the judges shall inquire well, and behold, if the witness is a false witness, a witness of falsehood, who has testified against his brother. 19 And you shall do to him just as he plotted to do to his brother, and you shall purge the evil from your midst. 20 And those who remain will hear and fear and will not add to do any more like this evil matter in your midst. 21 And your eye shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
