Jacob’s Dream at Bethel

Genesis 28:10-22
10And Jacob came out from Beersheba and walked toward Haran. 11And he came upon the place and lodged there, for the sun had set, and he took from the stones of the place and set them at his head and lay down in that place. 12And he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the land with its top reaching to heaven, and behold, messengers of God ascending and descending on it. 13And behold, the LORD stood upon him and said, I am the LORD, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie, to you I give it and to your seed. 14And your seed shall be like the dust of the land, and you shall break through to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and all the families of the land shall be blessed in you and in your seed. 15And behold, I am with you and will keep you in all the way you go, and I will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you. 16And Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know. 17And he feared and said, How fearful is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven. 18And Jacob rose early in the morning and took the stone which he had set at his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on its top. 19And he called the name of that place Bethel, though Luz was the name of the city at first. 20And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me and keep me in this way that I go, and give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, 21and I return in peace to the house of my father, and the LORD will be my God, 22and this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be the house of God, and of all that you give me I will tithe a tenth to you.
