12At that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and an offering to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been weak.13Hezekiah heard concerning them and showed them all his treasure house: the silver, the gold, the spices, the good oil, and his articles, and all that was found in his storehouses. There was no word that he did not show them in his house and in all his dominion.14Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, "What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?" Hezekiah said, "From a distant land they came, from Babylon."15He said, "What did they see in your house?" Hezekiah said, "They saw all that is in my house. There was no word that I did not show them in my storehouses."16Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD."17Behold, days are coming when all that is in your house and that your fathers stored up until this day will be carried to Babylon. No word will remain, says the LORD.18And some of your sons who will come out from you, whom you will beget, they will take, and they will be eunuchs in the temple of the king of Babylon.19Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD that you have spoken is pleasant." He said, "Will there not be peace and truth in my days?"20And the remainder of the words of Hezekiah and all his might and that he did—the pool and the conduit, and he brought the water to the city—are they not written upon the scroll of the words of the days of the kings of Judah?21Hezekiah lay down with his fathers, and Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
