21The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:22Lift the head of the sons of Gershon; they also belong to their fathers' house according to their families.23From thirty years old and upward to fifty years old you shall number them, everyone who comes to perform service, to carry out work in the tent of meeting.24This is the service of the families of the Gershonite: to serve and to carry.25They shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the tent of meeting, its covering, the covering of leather that is over it from above, and the screen for the entrance of the tent of meeting.26They shall also carry the curtains of the court, the screen for the entrance of the gate of the court that is upon the tabernacle and upon the altar around, their cords, all the articles of their service, and all that is made for them; and they shall serve.27All the service of the sons of the Gershonite shall be at the command of Aaron and his sons, both all their burden and all their service; you shall assign them the responsibility for all their burden.28This is the service of the families of the sons of the Gershonite in the tent of meeting, and their responsibility shall be under the supervision of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.
