Chapter 6
1
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
2
Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When a man or a woman is extraordinary to vow a vow of a Nazirite to set himself apart to the LORD.
3
He shall abstain from wine and strong drink. He shall not drink vinegar of wine or vinegar of strong drink, and he shall not drink any juice of grapes. He shall not eat grapes, fresh or dry.
4
All the days of his Nazirite vow, from all that is made from the vine of wine—from the grape seeds even to the grape skin—he shall not eat.
5
All the days of the vow of his Nazirite vow, a razor shall not pass over his head until the days are fulfilled in which he is a Nazirite to the LORD. It shall be holy; he shall let the hair of his head grow long.
6
All the days that he is a Nazirite to the LORD, he shall not go near a dead nephesh.
7
He shall not defile himself for his father or his mother, for his brother or his sister, when they die, for the Nazirite consecration of his God is upon his head.
8
All the days of his vow, he is holy to the LORD.
9
If a person dies suddenly near him and defiles the head of his Nazirite vow, then he shall shave his head on the day of his cleansing; on the seventh day he shall shave it.
10
On the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young doves to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
11
And the priest shall do one as a sin offering and one as a burnt offering, and he shall make atonement for him for that which he sinned against the nephesh, and he shall consecrate his head on that day.
12
And he shall consecrate to the LORD the days of his nazirite vow, and he shall bring a lamb, a year-old male, for a guilt offering. And the former days shall fall because his nazirite vow was ritually impure.
13
This is the law of the Nazirite: on the day when the days of his Nazirite vow are completed, he shall bring him to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.
14
And he shall present his offering to the LORD: one unblemished male lamb, a year old, for a burnt offering; one unblemished female lamb, a year old, for a sin offering; and one unblemished ram for peace offerings.
15
and a basket of unleavened breads, fine flour, challah loaves mixed with oil, and thin unleavened breads anointed with oil, and their grain offering and their libations.
16
And the priest shall bring them near before the LORD and shall make his sin offering and his burnt offering.
17
He shall make the ram a peace offering to the LORD along with the basket of unleavened bread, and the priest shall make its grain offering and its drink offering.
18
The Nazirite shall shave the head of his Nazirite vow at the gate of the tent of meeting, and he shall take the hair of the head of his Nazirite vow and put it on the fire that is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.
19
And the priest took the boiled ram's shoulder and one unleavened bread cake from the basket and one unleavened wafer and put them on the Nazirite's palms after he had shaved the head of his Nazirite vow.
20
And the priest shall wave them as a wave offering before the LORD. It is holy for the priest, with the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the heave offering. And afterward the Nazirite may drink wine.
21
This is the Torah of the Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD on his Nazir, apart from what his hand attains according to his vow that he vows. In this way he shall do according to the Torah of his Nazir.
