The Nazirite Vow

Numbers 6:1-21
1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'If a man or a woman makes a special vow, a Nazirite vow, to separate himself to the LORD,' 3he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink; he shall not drink vinegar of wine or vinegar of strong drink, nor shall he drink any juice of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried grapes. 4All the days of his consecration he shall not eat anything that is made from the vine of the wine, from the pips to the skin. 5All the days of his vow of consecration no razor shall pass over his head until the days are completed during which he separates himself to the LORD; he shall be holy and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow long. 6All the days of his separation to the LORD he shall not come near a dead person. 7He shall not defile himself for his father or his mother, for his brother or his sister, when they die, because his consecration to his God is on his head. 8All the days of his consecration he is holy to the LORD. 9If someone dies suddenly and defiles his consecrated head, he shall shave his head on the day of his purification; on the seventh day he shall shave it. 10On the eighth day he shall bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons to the priest at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 11The priest shall offer one as a sin offering and one as a burnt offering and shall make atonement for him because he sinned; on that same day the priest shall consecrate his head. 12He shall again separate himself to the LORD for the days of his consecration and shall bring a year-old lamb as a guilt offering; because his consecration was defiled. 13This is the instruction for the Nazirite: when the days of his consecration are fulfilled, he shall come to the entrance of the tent of meeting. 14He shall present his offering to the LORD: one unblemished year-old male lamb for a burnt offering, one unblemished year-old female lamb for a sin offering, and one unblemished ram for a peace offering, 15a basket of unleavened bread made of fine flour mixed with oil, unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and their grain offering and their drink offerings. 16The priest shall present the offering before the LORD and shall perform the sin offering and the burnt offering. 17The priest shall also offer the ram as a peace offering to the LORD, together with the grain offering and the drink offering. 18The Nazirite shall then shave his consecrated head at the entrance of the tent of meeting, take the hair of his consecrated head, and put it on the fire under the peace offering. 19The priest shall take the cooked shoulder of the ram, one unleavened loaf from the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and place them on the palms of the Nazirite after he has shaved his consecrated head. 20The priest shall wave them as a wave offering before the LORD; they are holy to the priest, the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution; after this the Nazirite may drink wine. 21This is the instruction for the Nazirite who vows his offering to the LORD concerning his consecration, apart from whatever else his hand may reach; according to the vow that he has vowed, so he shall do in keeping with the instruction of his consecration.
