11Therefore, having been led away from Troas, we sailed straight toward Samothrace, and on the following day toward Neapolis.12And from there we went toward Philippi, which is the first city of the district of Macedonia, a colony. We remained in that city for some days.13On the Sabbath day we went out of the gate beside the river, where we supposed there would be a place of prayer; and after we had sat down, we spoke to the women who had gathered.14A woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God, was listening; the Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was spoken by Paul.15When she was baptized, along with her household, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.
