1It shall come to pass that when all these words—the blessing and the curse that I set before you—come upon you, you will return them to your heart among all the nations to which the LORD your God has banished you.2You will return to the LORD your God and hear his voice according to all that I command you today—you and your children—with all your heart and with all your soul.3Then the LORD your God will return your captivity and have compassion on you; he will return and gather you from all the peoples to which the LORD your God has scattered you there.4If your banished one is at the end of heaven, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there he will take you.5The LORD your God will bring you to the land that your fathers possessed, and you will possess it; he will do good to you and multiply you more than your fathers.6The LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.7The LORD your God will bring all these curses upon your enemies and upon those who hate you, who pursued you.8You will return and hear the voice of the LORD and do all his commandments that I command you today.9The LORD your God will cause you to remain in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your belly, in the fruit of your animal, and in the fruit of your land, for good; for the LORD will return to rejoice over you for good, just as he rejoiced over your fathers.10For you will hear the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this book of the instruction, for you will return to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.11For this commandment that I command you today is not too wonderful for you, nor is it distant.12It is not in heaven, saying, 'Who will ascend for us to heaven and take it for us and cause us to hear it, that we may do it?'13Neither is it beyond the sea, saying, 'Who will cross over for us to the other side of the sea and take it for us and cause us to hear it, that we may do it?'14For the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, to do it.15See, I have set before you today the life and the good, and the death and the evil.16Which I command you today, to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that you may live and multiply, and the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are entering there to possess.17But if your heart turns away and you do not hear, and you are banished and bow down to other gods and serve them,18I have told you today that you will surely perish; you will not prolong days upon the land that you are crossing the Jordan to enter there to possess.19I have called to witness against you today the heaven and the earth; the life and the death I have set before you, the blessing and the curse; therefore choose life, that you and your seed may live.20To love the LORD your God, to hear his voice, and to cleave to him—for he is your life and the length of your days—to dwell upon the land that the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give to them.
