Chapter 26
1
And it shall be that when you come to the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you possess it and dwell in it.
2
And you shall take some of the firstfruits of all the fruit of the ground that you bring from your land that the LORD your God has given you, and you shall put them in a basket, and you shall go to the place that the LORD your God will choose to cause his name to dwell there.
3
And you shall come to the priest who is in those days, and you shall say to him, "I have declared to the LORD your God today that I have come to the land that the LORD swore to our fathers to give us."
4
And the priest shall take the basket from your hand and set it down before the altar of the LORD your God.
5
And you shall answer and say before the LORD your God: "An Aramean ready to perish was my father, and he went down to Egypt and sojourned there with a few people, and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and numerous."
6
And the Egyptians did evil to us, afflicted us, and put hard service upon us.
7
and we cried out to the LORD God of our fathers, and the LORD heard our voice and saw our affliction and our labor and our oppression.
8
And the LORD brought us out from Egypt with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm and with great terror and with signs and with wonders.
9
And he brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.
10
And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the fruit of the ground that you have given me, LORD, and I have set it down before the LORD your God, and you shall bow down before the LORD your God.
11
And you shall rejoice in all the good that the LORD your God has given you and your house—you, the Levite, and the sojourner who is in your midst.
12
When you finish tithing all the tithe of your harvest in the third year, the year of the tithe, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the stranger, to the orphan, and to the widow, and they shall eat in your gates and be satisfied.
13
And you shall say before the LORD your God, “I have removed the holy things from the house, and I have also given them to the Levite, the sojourner, the orphan, and the widow, according to all your commandment that you commanded me. I have not transgressed your commandments, and I have not forgotten.”
14
I have not eaten from it in my mourning, and I have not removed any of it while unclean, and I have not given any of it to a dead person. I have heeded the voice of the LORD my God; I have done according to all that you commanded me.
15
Look down from the dwelling of your holy place, from heaven, and bless your people Israel and the land that you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.
