The Lord Fills the Temple and the Dedication Festival
2 Chronicles 7:1-10
1When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the house.2The priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.3All the sons of Israel saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD upon the house; they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement, bowed, and gave thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his kindness endures forever.4The king and all the people were offering sacrifice before the LORD.5King Solomon offered as sacrifice twenty-two thousand cattle and one hundred twenty thousand sheep, and the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.6The priests stood at their posts, and the Levites stood with the musical instruments of the LORD that King David had made for giving thanks to the LORD, because his kindness endures forever, as David praised with them; the priests blew trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.7Solomon consecrated the middle of the court in front of the house of the LORD, because the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings were offered there; the bronze altar that Solomon had made could not hold the burnt offering, the grain offering, and the fat portions.8Solomon held the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him—a very great assembly from the entrance of Bo and Hamath to the brook of Egypt.9On the eighth day they held an assembly, because they had dedicated the altar for seven days and observed the feast for seven days.10On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people to their tents, joyful and glad of heart because of all the good that the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for Israel his people.
