2Behold, I am setting Jerusalem as a basin of reeling for all the surrounding peoples, and Judah also will be under siege against Jerusalem.3On that day I will make Jerusalem a stone of burden for all the peoples; all who lift it will surely cut themselves, and all the nations of the land will be gathered against it.4On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with bewilderment and its rider with madness; and upon the house of Judah I will open my eyes, and every horse of the peoples I will strike with blindness.5The chiefs of Judah will say in their hearts, 'The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength in the LORD of hosts, their God.'6On that day I will make the chiefs of Judah like a basin of fire among trees and like a torch of fire among sheaves, and they will consume on the right and on the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem still dwells in its place in Jerusalem.7The LORD will save the tents of Judah first, so that the beauty of the house of David and the beauty of the inhabitant of Jerusalem may not be magnified upon Judah.8On that day the LORD will defend the inhabitant of Jerusalem, and the one who stumbles among them on that day will be like David, and the house of David like God, like the messenger of the LORD before them.9On that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
