Psalm 37

Psalm 37:1-40

Chapter 37
To David. Do not be incensed with evildoers; do not envy those who do iniquity. 1 For they will quickly wither like grass and fade away like green herbage. 2 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and pasture faithfulness. 3 Delight in the LORD, and he will give you the requests of your heart. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the requests of your heart. 5 And he will bring forth your righteousness like light, and your justice like noonday. 6 Be silent before the LORD and wait eagerly for him; do not compete with the successful in his way, with the man who makes plots. 7 Be still before the LORD and wait for him; do not fret over the one succeeding in his way, over the man doing schemes. 8 Cease from anger and leave wrath; do not be furious only to do evil. For evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD will inherit the land. 9 For evildoers will be cut off, but those waiting for the LORD, they will inherit the land. And yet a little and the wicked one is not, and you will look intently on his place and he is not. 10 And the meek will inherit the land and delight themselves in the abundance of peace. 11 The wicked plotted against the righteous, and gnashed their teeth at him. 12 The wicked devise against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them; the Lord laughs at him, for he sees that his day is coming. 13 The Lord laughs at him, for he has seen that his day is coming. 14 Their sword will enter their heart, and their bows will be broken. 15 The little that belongs to the righteous is better than the multitude of many wicked ones. 16 For the arms of the wicked will be broken, and the LORD supports the righteous. 17 The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their inheritance will be forever. 18 They will not be ashamed in time of evil, and in days of famine they will be satisfied. 19 For the wicked will perish, and the enemies of the LORD will be like the glory of the meadows—they will vanish like smoke; they will vanish. 20 For the wicked will perish, and the enemies of the LORD, like the preciousness of rams, will vanish; they will vanish like smoke. 21 For the wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous is gracious and gives; the blessed ones will possess the land, and their cursers will be cut off. 22 For from the LORD the steps of a man are established, and he delights in his way. 23 For the steps of a man are established by the LORD; though he falls, he is not hurled down, for the LORD supports his hand. 24 Though he falls, he will not be cast down, for the LORD sustains him. 25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread. 26 Turn from evil and do good, and dwell forever. 27 For the LORD loves justice and will not forsake his faithful ones forever; they are preserved, and the seed of the wicked will be cut off. 28 The righteous will inherit the land and dwell on it forever. 29 The righteous will possess the earth, and they will dwell upon it forever. 30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The instruction of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip. 31 The wicked watches the righteous and seeks to kill him. 32 The LORD will not abandon him to his hand or condemn him when he judges. 33 Hope in the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; in the cutting off of the wicked you will see. 34 Wait for the LORD and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the earth; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it. 35 I have seen the wicked tyrant bending down like a native tree, flourishing. And he passed away, and behold, he was no more, and I sought him, but he could not be found. 36 Keep integrity and see the upright, for the latter end of that man is peace. 37 And the transgressors are destroyed together; the latter days of the wicked man are cut off. 38 The salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of distress. 39 But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD; he is their stronghold. He helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, for they take refuge in him.
