1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. The name of his mother was Jerusha daughter of Zadok.2He did what was upright in the eyes of the LORD, according to everything that Uzziah his father had done, except that he did not enter the temple of the LORD, and the people continued to act corruptly.3He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of the Ophel he built extensively.4He also built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the wooded areas he built fortresses and towers.5He fought with the king of the sons of Ammon and prevailed over them, and the sons of Ammon gave him in that year a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kor of wheat, and ten thousand kor of barley; this they returned to him in the second year and the third year.6Jotham strengthened himself, for he established his ways before the LORD his God.7Now the rest of the words of Jotham, all his battles, and his ways, behold, they are written on the scroll of the kings of Israel and Judah.8He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.9Jotham lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David.
