Revelation 21:1-27

Chapter 21
1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with the humans, and he will tabernacle with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them.” 4 And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more; neither mourning nor outcry nor pain will be any more. The first things have passed away. 5 And the one sitting on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And he says, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." 6 He said to me, "They have happened. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who is thirsting from the spring of the water of life freely." 7 The one overcoming will inherit these things, and I will be God to him and he will be a son to me. 8 But to the cowardly, the unbelieving, the detestable, murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion is in the lake burning with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. 9 One came out of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and he spoke with me, saying, "Come here; I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." 10 He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and he showed me the city, the holy Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 having the glory of God. Its luminary is like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone sparkling like crystal; 12 having a great and high wall, with twelve gates, and on the gates twelve angels, and names inscribed that are of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 three gates on the east, and three gates on the north, and three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. 14 and the wall of the city having twelve foundations, and on them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. 15 The one speaking with me had a measuring rod, a golden reed, to measure the city and its gates and its wall. 16 The city lies foursquare, and its length is as much as its width. He measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand stadia. Its length, width, and height are equal. 17 And he measured its wall, a hundred forty-four cubits, the measure of a man, that is of an angel. 18 The structure of its wall was jasper, and the city was pure gold like pure glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh hyacinth, the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each of the gates was from one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, transparent as glass. 22 And I did not see a temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty is its temple, and the Lamb. 23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. 25 And its gates will by no means be shut by day, for there will be no night there. 26 And they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 And in no way shall anything common or doing abomination and falsehood enter into her, except those written in the scroll of life of the Lamb.
