The Ark Brought into the Temple

8
Chapter 8
1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the princes of the fathers of the sons of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the city of David, which is Zion. 2 And all the men of Israel assembled to King Solomon in the month of Ethanim, at the feast of the seventh new moon. 3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests bore the ark. 4 And they brought up the Ark of the LORD, the tent of meeting, and all the vessels of the holy place that were in the tent; and the priests and the Levites brought them up. 5 And King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, the ones gathered to him, with him before the ark—altars of sheep and cattle which could not be counted nor numbered from multitude. 6 And the priests brought the Ark of the Covenant of the LORD to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the holy of holies, under the wings of the cherubim. 7 for the cherubim were spreading their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its staves from above. 8 And the poles extended, and the heads of the poles were seen from the holy portion on the face of the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside, and they are there until this day. 9 There is nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone which Moses placed there at Horeb, which the LORD cut with the sons of Israel in their going out from the land of Egypt. 10 And it happened that when the priests came out from the holy place, the cloud filled the temple of the LORD. 11 And the priests were not able to stand to serve because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD had filled the House of the LORD. 12 Then Solomon said, "The LORD said that he would dwell in thick darkness." 13 "I have built you a house of Zebul, a foundation for your dwelling forever." 14 And the king turned his face and blessed all the assembly of Israel, and all the assembly of Israel was standing. 15 And he said, "Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David my father and has fulfilled it with his hand, saying:" 16 From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a house for my Name to be there, but I have chosen David to be over my people Israel. 17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD God of Israel. 18 And he said, "The LORD said to David my father: 'Because it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you have done well, for it was in your heart.'" 19 Only you shall not build the house, but your son, the one coming forth from your loins—he shall build the house for my Name. 20 And the LORD has fulfilled his word that he spoke, and I have arisen in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel just as the LORD spoke, and I have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel. 21 And I have set there a place for the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD, which he cut with our fathers when he brought them out from the land of Egypt.
