1I saw the Lord standing on the altar, and he said, "Strike the capitals so that the thresholds shake, and cut them in the head of every one of them. I will kill the rest of them with the sword. Not one fugitive will flee from them, nor will any survivor escape from them."2If they dig into Sheol, from there my hand will take them; and if they ascend to the heavens, from there I will bring them down.3And if they hide at the top of Carmel, from there I will search for them and take them; and if they hide from my eyes at the bottom of the sea, from there I will command the serpent and it will bite them.4And if they go into captivity before their enemies, from there I will command the sword and it will kill them, and I will set my eye upon them for evil and not for good.5And the Lord GOD of Hosts, the one touching the land so that it melts and mourns, all its inhabitants, and it rises like the Nile—all of it—and sinks like the Nile of Egypt.6The one building his ascents in the heavens, and founding his bundling over earth, the one calling to the waters of the sea and pouring them out over the face of the earth—the LORD is his name.7Are you not to me like sons of Cushites, sons of Israel?—utterance of the LORD. Have I not brought up Israel from the land of Egypt, and Philistines from Caphtor, and Aram from Kir?8Look, the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the ground—except that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, says the LORD.9For look, I am commanding and I will sift the house of Israel among all the nations, just as one sifts with a sieve, and no pebble will fall to the earth.10All the sinners among my people will die by the sword—the ones saying, "You will not bring evil near, and you will not hasten it for us."
