Haman's Pride and Mordecai's Scorn

Esther 5:9-14
9Haman came out on that day glad and with a pleasant heart. When Haman saw Mordecai in the gate of the king, he neither rose nor trembled from him, and Haman was filled with rage upon Mordecai. 10Haman restrained himself and came to his house. He sent and brought his lovers and Zeresh his wife. 11Haman recounted to them the glory of his riches and the abundance of his sons and all that the king had magnified him and that he had raised him upon the officials and servants of the king. 12Haman said, "Even Queen Esther did not bring me with the king to the feast that she made except me, and tomorrow I also am invited with the king." 13Yet all this is nothing to me at every time when I see Mordecai the Jew sitting in the gate of the king. 14Zeresh his wife and all his lovers said to him, "Let them make a tree fifty cubits high, and in the morning say to the king that they hang Mordecai upon it; then come with the king to the feast glad." The word was good before Haman, and he made the tree.
