An Esther figure named in three verses, including counsel concerning Mordecai.
Zeresh is an Esther person first named at Esther 5:10, where the passage calls her “Zeresh his wife.” Her name occurs in at least three verses, all in Esther.
At Esther 5:14, Zeresh and Haman’s lovers advise him to have a high tree made and to ask the king to hang Mordecai on it. Later, Haman recounts what happened to Zeresh and his friends; Zeresh joins the advisers in saying that he will not prevail against Mordecai and will fall before him (Esther 6:13).
