David Purchases the Threshing Floor; Sacrifice and End of Plague

2 Samuel 24:18-25
18Gad came to David on that day and said to him, "Rise, erect an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite." 19David rose in accordance with the word of Gad, just as the LORD had commanded. 20Araunah looked and saw the king and his servants passing by him, so Araunah came out and bowed down before the king with his face to the ground. 21Araunah said, "Why has my lord the king come to his servant?" David answered, "To purchase the threshing floor from you in order to build an altar to the LORD so that the plague may be stayed from the people." 22Araunah said to David, "Let my lord the king take and offer whatever seems good in his eyes; see the cattle for the burnt offering, the threshing sleds, and the implements of the cattle for the wood." 23Araunah the king gave everything to the king, and Araunah said to the king, "May the LORD your God accept you." 24The king said to Araunah, "No, for I will purchase it from you at a price; I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God without cost." So David bought the threshing floor and the cattle for fifty silver shekels. 25David built an altar to the LORD there and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and the LORD responded to the land; the plague was stayed from Israel.
