God Appears to Solomon and Gives a Conditional Promise

2 Chronicles 7:11-22
11Solomon finished the house of the LORD and the house of the king and all that came upon Solomon's heart to do in the house of the LORD and in his house; he prospered. 12The LORD appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him, "I have heard your prayer and I have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice." 13Look, if I restrain the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to eat the land, or if I send pestilence among my people, 14then my people upon whom my name is called will humble themselves, and they will pray and seek my face and turn from their harmful ways, and I will hear from the heavens and forgive their sin and heal their land. 15Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer of this place. 16And now I have chosen and consecrated this house so that my name may be there forever, and my eyes and my heart will be there all the days. 17And you, if you walk before me as David your father walked, doing all that I commanded you, and keep my statutes and my judgments, 18then I will establish the throne of your royalty as I cut for David your father, saying, "No man ruling in Israel will be cut off from you." 19And if you turn and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I set before you, and go and serve other gods and bow to them, 20then I will uproot them from the land that I gave them, and this house that I consecrated to my name I will cast from my face, and I will give it as a proverb and a taunt among all the peoples. 21And this house that was high will become desolate for all who pass by it, and they will say, "Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?" 22And they will say, "Because they forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out from the land of Egypt, and they strengthened themselves in other gods and bowed to them and served them; therefore he brought upon them all this distress."
