Delegation and Preparation for the Relief Collection

2 Corinthians 8:16-9:5
16Grace then belongs to the God who gives the same diligence for you in the heart of Titus. 17For on the one hand he received the encouragement; on the other hand, being more eager and already self-chosen, he went out to you. 18We also sent with him the brother whose praise in the gospel comes through all the assemblies. 19Not only that, but he was also appointed by the assemblies as our companion in this grace that is being administered by us for the glory of the Lord and for our eagerness. 20We are avoiding this, lest anyone should criticize us concerning this abundance that is being administered by us. 21For we take care to do what is good, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of humans. 22We also sent with them our brother whom we have tested in many matters and often found eager; now he is much more eager with great confidence toward you. 23Whether concerning Titus—he is my partner and fellow worker for you—or our brothers, apostles of the assemblies and glory of Christ. 24Therefore we show to them the demonstration of your love and of our pride in you before the face of the assemblies.
Chapter 9
1Now concerning the service to the holy ones, it is excessive for me to write to you. 2For I know your eagerness about which I boast to the Macedonians, that Achaia has been ready since last year, and your zeal stirred up most of them. 3So I sent the brothers in order that our pride in you may not be emptied in this matter, and in order that you may be prepared just as I said. 4Otherwise, if the Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we ourselves may be put to shame—so that we need not say anything about you in this confidence. 5Therefore I considered it necessary to urge the brothers to go ahead to you and to arrange in advance your promised gift, so that it may be ready as a genuine gift and not as something given under compulsion.
