Shiloh Established and the Land Surveyed

Joshua 18:1-10

18
Chapter 18
1 They assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel at Shiloh. They set up the Tent of Meeting there, and the land was subdued before them. 2 And there remained among the sons of Israel those who had not divided their inheritance—seven tribes. 3 Joshua said to the sons of Israel, "How long will you be slackening to come and possess the land that the LORD God of your fathers has given you?" 4 Select three men from each tribe, and I will send them. They will go out, walk through the land, and describe it according to their inheritances. Then they will come to me. 5 They shall divide it into seven portions. Judah shall stand at its border on the south, and the house of Joseph shall stand at their border on the north. 6 You shall divide the land into seven parts and bring the description to me here, and I will cast lots for you here before the LORD our God. 7 For the Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance. And Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have taken their inheritance beyond the Jordan on the east, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them. 8 And the men arose and went, and they commanded the walkers to write the land, saying, "Go and walk about in the land and write it and return to me, and here I will cast lots for you before the LORD at Shiloh." 9 The men went and passed through the land, and they wrote it down in a book—the cities, seven portions—and came to Joshua at the camp. 10 Joshua cast lots for them at Shiloh before the LORD, and there Joshua divided the land to the sons of Israel according to their portions.
