Procedure for Distributing the Land and Levitical Cities
Joshua 14:1-5
1And these are what the sons of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest and Joshua son of Nun and the heads of the fathers of the tribes inherited for the sons of Israel.2By lot was their inheritance, just as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses for the nine tribes and the half tribe.3For Moses gave an inheritance of the two tribes and the half tribe from the side of the Jordan, but to the Levites he did not give an inheritance in their midst.4For the sons of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they gave no portion to the Levites in the land except cities to dwell in and their pasturelands for their livestock and for their acquisition.5Just as the LORD commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel did, and they divided the land.
