Letter to Thyatira: Tolerance of Immorality and Promise to Overcomers

Revelation 2:18-29

Chapter 2
18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These things says the Son of God, who has his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet like burnished bronze. 19 I know your works, and your love and your faith and your ministry and your endurance, and your works—your last ones greater than the first ones. 20 But I have this against you: You tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. She teaches and deceives my servants to commit sexual immorality and eat food sacrificed to idols. 21 And I gave her time so that she might repent, and she does not wish to repent from her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I am throwing her into a bed, and those committing adultery with her into great tribulation, if they do not repent from her works. 23 and her children I will kill with death; and all the churches will know that I am the one who searches kidneys and hearts, and I will give to each one of you according to your works. 24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira—to those who do not hold this teaching, who did not learn Satan's so-called deep secrets—I am not putting any other burden on you. 25 Only hold on to what you have until I come. 26 And the one overcoming and the one keeping my works until the end, I will give to him authority over the nations, 27 and he will shepherd them with an iron rod, as the ceramic vessels are shattered, 28 just as I have also received from my Father, and I will give to him the morning star. 29 Whoever has an ear should hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
