Psalm 140

Psalm 140:1-13
To the conductor. A melody of David. 1Rescue me, O LORD, from a bad man; from a man of violence watch over me. 2Who have devised harms in the heart all the day long; they stir up battles. 3They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; the rage of a viper is under their lips. Selah. 4Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; from a man of violence watch over me, who have devised to thrust aside my steps. 5The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net beside the track; snares they have set for me. Selah. 6I said to the LORD, You are my God; give ear, O LORD, to the voice of my supplication. 7O LORD, my Lord, the strength of my salvation, you covered my head in the day of battle. 8Do not grant, O LORD, the desires of the wicked; do not further his plan; let them not be exalted. Selah. 9As for the head of those surrounding me, trouble covers their lips. 10Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into floods, so that they do not arise. 11A man of the tongue shall not be established in the land; evil shall hunt down the man of violence to overthrow him. 12I knew, I knew that the LORD will execute judgment for the afflicted and justice for the needy. 13Surely the righteous will give thanks to your name; the upright will dwell in your presence.
