The Life-Giving River Flowing from the Temple

Ezekiel 47:1-12
1Then he brought me back to the entrance of the house, and behold, water was coming out from under the threshold of the house eastward, for the face of the house was toward the east; and the water was going down from under the right shoulder of the house, from the south to the altar. 2Then he brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around by way of the outer gate to the gate that faces east; and behold, water was trickling from the right shoulder. 3When the man went out eastward with a line in his hand, he measured a thousand cubits and brought me through water reaching the ankles. 4Then he measured a thousand and brought me through water reaching the knees; then he measured a thousand and brought me through water reaching the loins. 5Then he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I was not able to cross, for the water had risen to swimming depth, a river that could not be crossed. 6Then he said to me, 'Son of man, have you seen this?' Then he led me and brought me back to the lip of the river. 7When he brought me back, behold, on the lip of the river were very many trees on this side and on that side. 8Then he said to me, 'These waters are going out toward the eastern border and go down upon the Arabah and come to the sea, to the sea of the going-out ones, and the waters are healed.' 9And it shall be that every living soul that swarms, wherever the river comes, shall live, and the fish shall be very many, for these waters have come there and are healed, and everything that comes there shall live. 10And it shall be that fishermen shall stand upon it from En-gedi to Eneglaim; it shall be a spreading-place for nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, like the fish of the great sea, very many. 11Its swamps and its marshes shall not be healed; they are given to salt. 12And on the river shall go up, upon its lip on this side and on that side, every food tree; its leaf shall not wither and its fruit shall not fail; it shall bear fruit according to its months, for its waters are going out from the sanctuary, and its fruit shall be for food and its leaf for healing.
