Chapter 6
The LORD said to Moses, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh, for with a strong hand he will send them out and with a strong hand he will drive them out of his land."
God spoke to Moses and said to him, "I am the LORD."
I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as the Almighty, but my name the LORD I did not make known to them.
I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, the land in which they sojourned.
And also I heard the groan of the sons of Israel whom Egypt is serving, and I remembered my covenant.
Therefore say to the sons of Israel: "I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of Egypt; I will rescue you from their service and redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments."
I will take you to myself as a people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God who brings you out from under the burdens of Egypt.
I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, and I will give it to you as a possession; I am the LORD.
Moses spoke in this way to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses because of shortness of spirit and because of the harsh service.
The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Go, speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he may let the sons of Israel go from his land.
Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, "The sons of Israel have not listened to me; how then will Pharaoh listen to me, since I have uncircumcised lips?"
