Nehemiah 12:27-47

12
Chapter 12
27 At the dedication of Jerusalem's wall, they sought out the Levites from all their places and brought them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with joy and thanksgiving sacrifices, as well as song accompanied by cymbals, lyres, and harps. 28 And the sons of the singers gathered from the Kikkar around Jerusalem and from the courtyards of the Tabernacle of Netophah. 29 and from Beth ha-Gilgal and from the fields of Gibeon and Azmaveth, for the singing ones they built courts around Jerusalem. 30 And the priests and the Levites purified the people, the gates, and the wall. 31 Then I brought the officials of Judah up onto the wall and stationed them: two large thanksgiving choirs and processions to the right on the wall toward the Dung Gate. 32 And Hoshaiah and half the chiefs of Judah went after them. 33 and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam. 34 Judah and Benjamin and Shemaiah and Jeremiah. 35 And of the sons of the priests with trumpets: Zechariah son of Jonathan son of Shemaiah son of Mattaniah son of Michiah son of Zaccur son of Asaph. 36 And his brothers Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God, and Ezra the scribe before them. 37 Then at the Eye Gate, and opposite them, they went up the stairs of the city of David, at the ascent to the wall, above to the house of David, and as far as the Water Gate, to the east. 38 And the second thanksgiving procession went to the LORD, and I followed it, and half the people from above the Providence from above the Tower of the Ovens as far as the Broad Wall. 39 And from above the Gate of Ephraim, over the Old Gate, over the Gate of the Fish, the Tower of Hananel, and the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Gate of the Sheep, and they stood at the Gate of the Muster. 40 And the two thanksgiving choirs stood in the house of God, and I and half of the officials with me. 41 And the priests Eliakim, Maaseiah, Namin, Michiah, Elioeinai, Zechariah, and Hananiah with trumpets. 42 And Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Melchiah, Elam, and Ezer; and the singers made their voices heard, with Izrahiah as the overseer. 43 And on that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced, for God had given them great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. The joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar. 44 And on that day they appointed people over the chambers for the treasuries, for the contributions, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them the portions of the Torah for the priests and for the Levites, for the joy of Judah was over the priests and the Levites the standing ones. 45 And they kept the keeping of their God and the keeping of the purity and the singers and the gatekeepers according to the commandments of David, Solomon his son. 46 for in the days of David and Asaph, from before the heads of the singers, song of praise and thanksgivings to God. 47 And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave portions of the singers and the gatekeepers, a matter of day in its day, and sanctified to the Levites, and the Levites sanctified to the sons of Aaron.
