27And during the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites from all their places to bring them to Jerusalem to perform the dedication with joy and with thanksgivings and with song, with cymbals, harps, and lyres.28And the sons of the singers were gathered, together with those from the Plain around Jerusalem and from the villages of the Netophathite.29And from the house of Gilgal and from the lands of Geba and Azmaveth, because the singers had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem.30And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and they purified the people, the gates, and the wall.31And I brought the rulers of Judah up onto the wall, and I stationed two great companies of thanksgiving and processions on the right side upon the wall at the Dung Gate.32And Hoshaiah walked after them, along with half the rulers of Judah.33And Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam followed.34Judah and Benjamin and Shemaiah and Jeremiah were also present.35And from the sons of the priests with trumpets came Zechariah son of Jonathan son of Shemaiah son of Mattaniah son of Micaiah son of Zaccur son of Asaph.36And his brothers Shemaiah and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani were with the instruments of the song of David the man of God, and Ezra the secretary was before them.37And at the Fountain Gate, before them they went up the steps of the city of David on the ascent to the wall above the house of David and as far as the Water Gate on the east.38And the second thanksgiving procession went in the opposite direction, and I followed after it, with half the people upon the wall above the Tower of the Ovens and as far as the Broad Wall.39And they passed above the gate of Ephraim and above the Jeshanah Gate and above the Fish Gate, the tower of Hananel, the tower of the Hundred, and as far as the Sheep Gate, and they stood at the Guard Gate.40And the two thanksgiving companies stood in the house of God, and I and half the rulers stood with me.41And the priests Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah were with trumpets.42And Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Johanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer were present, and the singers made themselves heard, with Izrahiah the overseer.43And on that day they offered great sacrifices and rejoiced, because God had caused them to rejoice with great joy; the women and the youths also rejoiced, and the joy of Jerusalem was heard from afar.44And on that day men were appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the contributions, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions prescribed by the law for the priests and for the Levites, because the joy of Judah rested upon the priests and upon the Levites who were standing there.45And they kept the charge of their God and the charge of purification, as well as the singers and the gatekeepers, according to the commandment of David and of Solomon his son.46For in the days of David and Asaph from of old there was a head of the heads of the singers, and there was song, praise, and thanksgivings to God.47And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave the daily portions to the singers and the gatekeepers, and they consecrated portions to the Levites, and the Levites consecrated portions to the sons of Aaron.
