Caleb's Claim and Inheritance of Hebron

Joshua 14:6-15
6And the sons of Judah approached Joshua at Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know the word which the LORD spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you at Kadesh-barnea." 7I was a son of forty years when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land, and I returned a word just as it was with my heart. 8And my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I followed fully after the LORD my God. 9And Moses swore on that day, saying, "If not, the land on which your foot has trodden shall be an inheritance for you and for your sons forever, because you have followed fully after the LORD my God." 10And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive just as he spoke this word these forty-five years since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel walked in the wilderness, and now, behold, I am today a son of eighty-five years. 11I am still strong today just as on the day Moses sent me; my strength then was like my strength now for battle and for going out and for coming in. 12And now give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke on that day, for you heard on that day that Anakites are there and great fortified cities; perhaps the LORD will be with me and I will possess them just as the LORD spoke. 13And Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. 14Therefore Hebron became an inheritance for Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed fully after the LORD the God of Israel. 15And the name of Hebron was formerly Kiriath-arba; he was the man, the great one among the Anakites; and the land was quiet from battle.
