Chapter 11
1 A reed like a rod was given to me, with the command: "Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those worshiping in it." 2 and the outer courtyard of the temple—cast it outside and do not measure it, because it has been given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city forty-two months. 3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for one thousand two hundred sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands, the ones standing before the Lord of the earth. 5 And if anyone wants to do them injustice, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies; and if anyone wants to do them injustice, in this way it is necessary for him to be killed. 6 They have authority to shut the heaven so that no rain may wet the days of their prophecy, and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every plague as often as they wish. 7 And when they finish their testimony, the beast, the one ascending out of the abyss, will make war with them and will conquer them and will kill them. 8 and their corpses on the broad street of the great city, which is called spiritually Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9 And peoples and tribes and tongues and nations see their corpses for three and a half days, and they do not allow their corpses to be placed into a tomb. 10 And those who dwell on the earth rejoice over them and celebrate, and they will send gifts to each other, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. 11 And after the three days and a half, a spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet, and great fear fell upon those beholding them. 12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here," and they went up to heaven in the cloud, and their enemies watched them. 13 And in that hour there came to be a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell, and seven thousand names of men were killed in the earthquake, and the remaining became terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. 14 The second woe is past; behold, the third woe comes quickly.
