The Bride's Night Search and Distress

Song 5:2-8

5
Chapter 5
2 I am asleep, but my heart is awake. The voice of my David is calling. He is knocking. "Open to me, my sister, my calamity, my dove, my perfect one, for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with drops of the night." 3 I have taken off my tunic; how can I put it on? I have washed my feet; how can I dip them in water? 4 My beloved put his hand through the hole, and my innards quivered for him. 5 I arose to open for my beloved, and my hands dripped myrrh, and my fingers dripped myrrh on the handles of the lock. 6 I opened to my beloved, but my beloved had slipped away; he had passed by. My vital life force went out when he spoke. I sought him, but did not find him. I called to him, but he did not oppress/afflict me. 7 The guards who patrol the city found me, the ones prepared to stand. They wounded me; they took away my cloak, the guards of the walls. 8 I have made you swear, daughters of Jerusalem—if you find my beloved, what will you say to him? That I am sick with love?
