Psalms 1–2

Psalm 1:1-2:12

1
Chapter 1
1 Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the wicked, has not stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of mockers. 2 Rather, his delight is in the Torah of the LORD, and in his Torah he mutters day and night. 3 He will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf will not wither, and everything he does will prosper. 4 Not so the wicked, for they are only like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Chapter 2
1 Why do nations rage and peoples meditate vainly? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers station themselves together against the LORD and against his anointed. 3 Let us tear off his bonds and cast his cords from him. 4 The one sitting in the heavens will laugh; the Lord will mock them. 5 Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath. 6 And I have set my king upon Zion, the mountain of my holiness. 7 I will proclaim to the LORD the decree. He said to me, "You are my Son; today I have begotten you." 8 Ask of me, and I will give the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will shatter them with a rod of iron; you will dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Now then, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry and you perish in the way, for his anger blazes like a little. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
