Revelation 1:9-20

Chapter 1
9 I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and kingdom and endurance in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet. 11 saying, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamum, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea." 12 And I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands. 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a Son of man, clothed with a robe reaching to the feet and girded about the breasts with a golden belt. 14 Now his head and his hair were white as wool, white as snow, and his eyes were like a flame of fire. 15 and his feet similar to burnished bronze, as in a furnace fired white-hot, and his voice as the voice of many waters, 16 And he held seven stars in his right hand, and out of his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword proceeding, and his appearance was like the sun shining in its power. 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as a dead man. He placed his right hand on me, saying, "Do not fear; I am the first and the last," 18 I am the living one. I became dead, and look, I am living forever and ever. I have the keys of death and of Hades. 19 Therefore write what you saw, what is, and what will happen after these things. 20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
