The Bronze Serpent

Numbers 21:4-9

Chapter 21
4 And they journeyed from the mountain by way of the Sea of Reeds to go around the land of Edom, and the life force of the people grew short on the way. 5 And the people spoke against God and Moses, "Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread and no water, and our soul loathes the worthless bread." 6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, and much death happened among Israel. 7 And the people came to Moses and said, "We have sinned, for we spoke against the LORD and you. Pray to the LORD that he remove the serpent from us." And Moses prayed on behalf of the people. 8 And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a seraph and put it on a banner, and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live." 9 And Moses made a bronze serpent and put it on the banner. And it was, if the serpent bit a man, and he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived.
